I have been lookng into FANTASTIC SAMS, SPORTS CLIPS

and then just normal liquor stores through sunbelt.

What else would you guys buy with 500k or so USD. Recession resistant, guaranteed income basically.

I keep hearing bad shit about sports clips and fantastic sams. I *will not* be self-managing.

Recession proof? Maybe.

However, consider if Walmart is allowed to sell alcohol in your state.

You can be recession proof all you want. You wont be Walmart proof.

I'd check into a fast food franchise. Have you ever seen a McD's that was empty? They're probably highest cost franchise, but I've never seen one go out of business.

Good point but they also saw a decline in customers with the diet changes happening but they saw an increase in customers when the recession hit (if I remember correctly).

I love this thread by the way. The first thing I'm doing once I accumulate some real bank roll is starting up some brick and mortar shit as well as creating physical products. Liquor store is a great idea too, hadn't thought of that. Although in my area we have a "Wal-Mart" OF liquor stores so that could be trick.

That's cos you don't hear about it. It happens often. (friend of mine used to work on franchises in trouble)

The really good ones, the franchisor tends to operate direct these days, leaving the shitty ones for the franchisees.

Also, the food business is very, very hard fucking work. Even if you have "manager", for the first few years.

McDonald's is an interesting corporation.

There are two kinds of stores - corporate and franchise.

Corporate stores do not go out of business. Ever. That would be bad for business. They may "move" from time to time.

Franchise stores can occassionaly go out of business. However, do you know how McDonald's makes most of it's money? When a franchisee applies and is approved the MCD corporation buys the land the building goes on.

The franchisee is then forced to pay the lease for life.

Smart people over there...

whatever you do; if you put your heart into it, thats whats gonna make it recession proof.

i was thinkin of this too...

however a few ppl that i work w/ say that franchises are not worth it .. that it is just like "buying a job"

personally i don't know if i buy that. I like dunkin donuts personally, that is always packed in my area
