Obviously, I skew toward Sci-fi. Are there any shows (sci-fi or not) that people here would recommend I add to this list?

I second Dexter, but you're going to have to watch 3 seasons with around 12 episodes each to catch up. Great show.

"Bored to Death"

Dexter is by far the best of all of these. It gets you to where you cannot wait to see what happens next. It's unique, never been done before and you come to really like the main character.
