I have a comparison website that we released about 8 months ago. The concept of the site is pretty simple, we scrape the offers from an increasing number of merchants and compare them on our site. When we refer a sale, we have an affiliate relationship with the merchant.
I have not bought any traffic for the site, it's all coming via direct navigation and SERPs.
I would like to start purchasing traffic to this site now. Before I do so however, I need to implement some form of user tracking. Namely, I've done enough reading now that I want to apply to a large number of different traffic sources and use a number of different keywords. I'd like to map these keywords/sources into unique IDs that I track via sessions through the site and then via sub_ids with the merchants.
Rather than rewriting the wheel, I assume this must have been thoroughly done over by now. Can anyone recommend some software? Is there an industry standard?
