Remembrance Day in Canada is today... also known as Poppy Day, where people wear poppies (lil red flowers) on their lapel of their jackets/suits. They remember their amazing army that keeps them safe at night and more importantly keeps their maple syrup and bacon reserves away from the evil do'ers of the world!

Do we wish you a happy Remembrance Day or is that just wrong?

In all seriousness, love you Canadians regardless, so big up to all of you and your weird holiday.

Are you serious?

Canadians have a day dedicate to the plant that provides Opium? That country is cooler than I thought.

well mostly banks and such get a day off...
but as the name suggests.... a day to remember history...so we're not doomed to repeat it!!

Thanks to our veterans and present soldiers.

It's not a weird holiday, WWI ended on the 11/11 at 11. Isn't Veteran's day the same thing you guys have? Just a different name for it.

Remembrance Day: Why the Poppy?

I'm surprised that the rest of the world doesn't know about it really.

I'm probably one of the most anti-military/anti-war people about, but gotta say it was moving seeing almost the last 3 surviving servicemen of the First World War being wheeled up to the cenotaph to lay poppies today.

As it's 90 years on there's been loads of stuff on TV about it, it really highlights how things have changed over a lifetime. They might've been fighting for the same bullshit political reasons as today, but most weren't aware of it and had very little choice. For enduring the horrors of trench warfare in my view they deserve our respect and remembrance.

Such a fucking waste of human life... "The war to end all wars".

Woodrow Wilson was a punk bitch.

As for Canada's sacrifice in WWI, nothing but respect.

Fun Fact:

Canada emerged from World War II with the world's fourth largest Army, a massive bomber fleet and the ability to build nuclear weapons -- and 7.5 percent of GDP spent on defense.

Now the Canadian "army" has 62,000 soldiers. As a percentage of gross domestic product, Canada is NATO's second-lowest spender after Luxembourg. Canada spends about 1.1 percent of its GDP on defense, well below the 2.1 percent average for NATO's 19 member countries.

Bottomline, we're now lovers, not fighters. But if you take our bacon and maple syrup, remember we all have about 20 hockey sticks in our basements that can be readily sharpened into spears.
