Given the slop that passes for journalism these days, a recent Reuters piece on Zimmerman is surprisingly good:

George Zimmerman: Prelude to a shooting | Reuters

It presents Zimmerman as a generally good, if flawed, man rather than a gun-toting, race-mongering Dirty Harry. It tells some of his story, including details that suggest anger management issues. The Reuters piece shows a self-starter, hard worker, and responsible guy liked by his neighbors. But it also makes clear that he has a penchant for losing his head and making poor decisions.

To that point, you'll note the article mentions:

Zimmerman was charged with resisting arrest, violence, and battery of an officer after shoving an undercover alcohol-control agent
Keep in mind that "battery of an officer" doesn't mean much these days. For example, recently, a TSA agent whose hand was brushed away by a congressman asked the cops to arrest said lawmaker for assault. lol

I know the Martin killing has been all but wiped from the table already (such is the moment-by-moment news cycle), but thought you still might enjoy the piece. This case will surely resurface in a few months when a verdict is finally delivered. The details in this article will add nuance to that discussion.
