Hey dudes and dudettes,

This is my first post on wickedfire, great forum!

Brief Background:
I'm a relative newbie to IM. I say relative because I haven't made any real money yet (~$500), but I do know the lingo, have some SEO, and I am programmer by trade. I have launched a few wordpress blogs promoting e-books, which have failed terribly (see 0 commissions). I have launched a few PPC direct linking campaigns (3 on adwords, 1 yahoo) which have also just made my wallet lighter, I am also approved on a few CPA networks as I am trying that next...

Landing Page
I've been running a blog for a while, The Geek's Guide To Dating Blog and have recently complied other knowledge I have on the subject into a ebook here:
The Geek's Guide to Dating eBook - please rip apart, all tips would be greatly appreciated. Currently have Traffic Bug | Sale Page bookmarking this page and it is linked from the blog.

CPA keyword question
I am promoting CPA offers via adwords, direct linking to test offers.
Most CPA offers appear to be very broad/big business areas such as insurance, education, debt consulting etc. I am having a hard time coming up with keywords where I can be on page 1 for a reasonable CPC (even with a QS of 7). I have tried keywords such has "keyword + state" or making up my own long tail keywords, which so far are not getting any impressions. I mainly use google keyword tool to do keyword research as I am a recent college grad and am bootstrapping as much as I can.

My question is, wtf do I have to do to discover/create keywords that I can get on page 1 for adwords without paying a retarded CPC?

Thanks,

Gary

Honestly I think it's all fugly (no offense)...after one glance I would not expect any of that to convert.

You definitely need to work on making that shit look appealing. Either spend some time looking around at other similar sites to get design ideas, learn something about web design, buy some templates, etc.

For your blog, you should be able to find some better looking themes without much work.

On your ebook sales page, hell there isn't even a picture of a WOMAN. Think about this from your prospective customer's point of view. You must capture the attention of your users.

-Your overall outline/format for the pages are not bad at all
-Theme wise theres alot of different font sizes and random spacing/color... Try to get a more consistent style going
-You also capatilize the start of many words in your headings... Yeah it looks kinda nice but your better off appearing reputable with proper grammar
-You need to have a major draw of attention on landing pages that correspond to the product you are trying to sell, basically need to guide/build them up as they scroll down your page... Use some nice arrows or something

Overall though these pages really aren't that bad. I believe your "real" problem may be with the niches/products you chose. Dating/Sex related eBooks are in a extremely competitive niche... the information sought after is free all over the internet now thus there is no real need to pay anymore. The second one, your traffic/seo niche product... well thats definitely a very hard niche to profit in considering the people you're competing against are generally IM/SEO geniuses. Depends what source of traffic you're after aswell.

Then again, what do I even know? I'm far from success. :)
