I have been writing and mousing with one hand for almost two weeks now.
Going to buy a training ball :)

Anyone had RSI here?:zzwhip:

I've been noticing this tightness in my wrist, and I'm pretty worried about it. Gotta get on finding some insurance...

I absolutely do not agree that a trackball/marble mouse is ergonomic in any way shape or form.

Mouse using your arm from the elbow, with your elbow supported on your desk, chair arm or support. The whole forearm should move, not just your hand flexing at the wrist. It's as simple as that.

That's pretty much what I do (rest elbows on the desk), but what I've found over the last few years is that the nerves in my elbows are beling slowly pinched. I'm starting to lose feeling - and getting constant pins/needles in the little finger on both hands.

I believe the very best way is to actually suspend your arms above the desk (ie. not resting on anything). That's the way I was taught in typing class 20 years ago. But I've just tried it typing this and I reckon you shoulders would get tired far too easily...

I had problems with my left elbow as well from resting it on the desk, I bought a sports gel pack that you are meant to keep in the freezer for icing sports injuries and us it as an elbow rest. Works pretty well.

I have had problems with my left hand & arm for the last 2 years. I have shooting pains sometimes even when I click the mouse button. Not a pleasant experience :(

I have problems sometimes. I use a MS Natural 4000 or whatever (lots of people talking about that the past few days) and a normal mouse. I had a lot more problems before I switched to an ergo keyboard. I've been using computers for 25 years.

I haven't forgotten I owe you a PM!

I have really bad chronic RSI. Which is why I have been learning to use Vista Voice Recognition. I also have braces, but I lost one and I don't wear them much anymore. Take frequent breaks. When the pain starts, take a break. Never work through pain, you will only compound the inflammation.

Exercise has been helping mine lately. It got really bad when I started programming actively again, but I started running and doing pushups and it seems to have cooled down.

Thanks for the tip.

Sorry to hear you have a chronic one. I think I have that too. I've had mine for 3 years+ now. Got three steroide cortisone shots from the doctor last autumn which were very effective on the pain since it diminished the inflammation. The pain was totally abscent for a few months.

I also got the least harmful side effect from the cortisone: my skin lightened around where the shots were placed. Yay.

My arm with the hand in question always get tired quickly, so I'll do some workout on that.
