I'm so tired of everything being labeled a fucking hate crime just because someone involved is gay. I looked at a few versions of this story, and didn't see anything specifically saying that he made anti gay or malicious comments. Shit, he probably would have filmed and broadcast that shit if it was a smokin hot chick, or a fat chick just for laughs. Then what?

Even if the guy getting taped had killed himself because he was super religious and was supposed to wait until marriage or some other stupid reason, there wouldn't have been near the media coverage because there was no hate crime. The dude being taped might have been pissed anyway, and taken a normal course and beat his roommates ass (or called the cops, or whatever else small kids do). Or he would have thought it was funny. Either way, he probably wouldn't have killed himself because he was embarrassed that he fucked a chick.

The only reasonable conclusion is that Tyler killed himself because he was embarrassed or ashamed of being gay. I'm not saying he should have been, I don't fucking care who people fuck. Two students, Dharun Ravi and Molly Wei, have been charged with two counts each of invasion of privacy

Wei has been released on her own recognizance and Ravi posted $25,000 bail

Ravi should sue on the basis of sexual discrimination. They got charged with the same two counts of the same crime but the male has to pay $25k bail?
