I am thinking about moving cause Ohio sucks my dick. It sucks even worse because I used to live in San Diego.

Has anyone had any experience with Seattle, LA, NY, Washinton DC, Tampa or Miami? Do you like it or hate it? Pros and cons?

I am already doing research online and my plan is to narrow it down to two places and go visit them for a week. I am pretty much looking for somewhere close to the beach, avoiding snow and a fun night life.

Why what would recommend outside the US?

I have no idea, to each their own. Warm weather, beach, and good night life? How about Rio de Janerio?

Or maybe Monevideo, Uruguay:

Or hundreds of other places the world has to offer.

Tampa is better than Miami in quality of life. Miami is very stressful (traffic, high prices, etc) while Tampa is more laid back.

Why did you move from San Diego? I hear it's great out there.

I wouldn't mind living in Miami. The Coconut Grove area is not as crazy as the South Beach area or Downtown, but still has nice restaurants and bars, I'd consider checking out that area near Cocowalk.

Personally though I'd move to San Diego. Just the general vibe and scenery you get being there can't be matched IMO in other cities within the U.S. Plus there's a ton of people in the industry that live in the area.

Best of both worlds would be to have a place in both cities and just bounce between both on a personal yacht. :D

Florida has hurricanes. New York has New Yorkers. Seattle is nice if you like cold mist year round, LA is apparently very popular with wannabe movie stars. :) Why not try somewhere like North Carolina near the beach? I hear it's a bit more balanced than some of the other places you're thrown out.

Florida hasn't been hit by a Hurricane since 2005, but it does have New Yorkers. Proof you can't be too lucky! lmao

My vote:

San Francisco or San Jose

EDIT: Tampa sucks, D.C. is expensive for a town of its taste, LA is a place for people who like a particular way of life, Miami has very concentrated pockets of wealth (Brickell, town of Miami Beach) while the rest of it sucks, Seattle is cold, gray, mountainous, green, and full of hipsters.

The South Bay of L.A. is pretty awesome as well. Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach etc. If you don't have to drive to downtown on a daily basis and deal with shitty traffic that might be a good choice also

You've lived in Tampa?

The state of North Carolina tried to kill me once.

I am never going back. That state wants my blood.

I looked at both of those, seems like the cost of living is highly ridiculous to justify moving there. Its actually what made me start thinking about Seattle.

True about the hurricanes coming sporadically, but every time something threatens the Gulf, it's nerve-wracking preparing to handle the onslaught, just in case. (I live in Houston, and I've been there with kids, files and hard drives packed up more than a few times - just in case.) I'd avoid a hurricane town unless you know how to handle it - I like them because you know days in advance what you're dealing with. I avoid earthquake and tornado towns though. :)

Why not Hawaii? That's nice enough. :)

Basically, you'll stay the same age as when you moved here. It's an adult playground... we live in the netherworld out here.

The next best place IMHO is San Diego followed by Austin

Is South Bay a suburb of LA or a separate town?

It sounds interesting I just can't pull it up cause I am probably using the wrong name. A zip code example would help :)

Technically we're in LA county, but it's nothing like "LA". Very chill beach vibe... volleyball, surfing, and partying rule (even though the surf generally sucks here comparatively).. and the dating/hookup scene is so upside down I can't even begin to explain it.

There's not much hollywood people because it takes like 10-15 minutes to even GET to the 405, and then you're stuck on the damned 405. So we get very much stuck into our own little bubble. I don't even know what half of my friends drive. But I do know what kind of flip flops they wear. We don't go to bars that don't let us in with boardshorts and flip flops (although there are a few of those here... f em)

I've met incredible girls that lived in Hollywood and there was simply no way I could date them. Might as well be a long distance relationship.

The area definitely isn't for everyone. Hipsters, hippies, writer kind of people, and more edgy people probably like the West side better (santa monica, venice, marina del rey). dtea206 fits in there perfectly whereas I'm super at home in the SoBay

Put in 90254 into the census data to get an idea. Manhattan Beach is slightly richer, older, a tad more married, and nicer.... they're 90266 for comparison.
