Seems like things are leveling off.

It seems like things are slowing down around here to a more normal level. With so many slots left in the posting contest I am surprised that more people aren't posting like crazy still. Especially since so many people are so close to winning.

Yeah, I'm kind of sorry to see it, the crazy activity of the first couple of days was fun.

I must say...I first saw this place yesterday and couldn't believe the kind of numbers it already had...joined just a little while ago and see that things must have indeed slowed down at least some...but jeez, what was the driving force behind the mayhem right after opening? That's huge for a brand new forum

It was, wasn't it? The excitement and the frenzy of reaching those 500 posts was really fun too. I can't wait for Jon to post another contest that I can have a go at. I would enter the Photoshop one, but my Photoshop skills just aren't up to it.

A lot of it was this I think:

JDA, yep, saw that too...that's pretty huge...although I woulda liked to have seen an example of one of these sites that they'll be giving away....but like Wallace said, the contest isn't over yet - there are plenty of spots left to claim that prize...why the slowdown? Is it because there are so many people that are close that the newbies don't stand a chance? That's my story.

Also - have you guys seen the Alexa stats for WickedFire? Un-believable

http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?q=&url=www.wickedfire.com

I realize that Alexa isnt always the most accurate traffic reporter, but there's no faking that spike.

Yeah, it'd definiately slowed down a bit. I think I liked it better when there were too many threads to keep track of. I'm sure the activity will pick up again once Jon gets another contest goin' once the 500/50 one is over.

Actually.. you guys are quite wrong. It's not slowing down whatsoever. We are in the 6th day and hit an all time high today of members online at once. More so than the first two days. The only thing that hasn't been shooting up is the number of new members joining, although it's at a steady pace of a few new ones every hour or so.

I think one of the reasons that it seems to feel like it's slowing down is due to the quality of the posts. Even though we are averaging 1500 posts a day, remember, this forum is not even a week old. I've seen new forums take at least 2-3 months to hit the numbers we are pushing now. The quality has also shot up incredibly compared to the first two days. I'm in absolute disbelief as well. I never dreamed that the forum would be as popular as it is, and this is again, THE FIRST FUCKIN WEEK!!

It's definately leveling out, but I think it might pick up a little more once the weekend is here.

EDIT:::
Well, scratch my above words...jon just proved us wrong...

Im having a hard time reaching 200, let alone 500
I sat here all day for 2.5 days until I was finished.

But, when I click on the New Posts link there are so few things being talked about. When I was trying for 500 there were loads of topics listed there.

I think it depends on the time of day, because sometimes I post something and there are already 3 posts done at the same time within a minute. It's nuts. Also, I think weekends may be getting more traffic, but I don't know, because it's too early to map out any trends just yet.

It slows down nightly; right now there's just 3 pages of threads under New Posts, earlier there were 11.

The problem I'm having is trying to get work done as opposed to my desire to be here posting to hopefully win the comp.

From that too comes the tissue that a lot of the stuff I could start posts about have already been started so the 50 quality threads is semi difficult.

Work vs WickedFire .. hmm it's tough

What I do know is that my article writing has stopped since beeing here, my second site development has stopped since being here, and I'm spending too muhc time on here while at work.

Having said that - MUST win this competition!!! haha

This forum is really good and it's good to see so many people jumping onboard to support it. Like Jon said it's only the first week and I'm hanging around for the long haul.
