Greetings WIA and fellow Wickedfire members!

I just found a beautifully redesigned logo we did for one of our ecommerce sites in the "Client List" section of a SEO company's website. Apparently, we are among "600 satisfied clients" this company has. Which is of course bullshit as every scrap of work ever done on that site was done by me or a member of our in house team. So these assholes are selling SEO vapourware bullshit based on my site.

Anyway, I was going to call the owner (it's a real company) and call him out on his bullshit and then forget about it. Anything else anyone would recommend? Am I wasting my time being pissed off about this?

This shit happens all the time. You can try phoning him and scaring him saying that you will pursue legal action if he doesn't take it down. If he doesn't comply, then forget about it. Don't waste anymore of your time.

Contact him and tell him you know he's full of shit. Tell him to stop. But anything else is just a waste of time. Focus on your business, not hurting other people's business (no matter how wrong they are), especially if they are not competing against you.

Post the company name on here, and let WF deal with it?

Tempted, but I am too much of a pussy. If this guy got KaniGTS / Albany Plantation / Drew Myers treatment he would make it his mission to get me back. Not worth it.

I think this is probably the best advice. Anything else is just going to be a distraction from doing business. I'm just using STS to vent really, sorry about that guys

How does he know who you are?

A search for '"600 satisfied clients" "SEO"' doesn't bring back that many results, btw...

You have already summoned so it's to late to back out. I suggest a pm to the director

Guys, guys, guys... there is a much simpler solution to this.

Just put an entry in your .htaccess file that redirects all of the people referred from his site to a dickroll.

RewriteCond %{http_referer} ^http://([^.]+.)*(seodickheadagency).com
RewriteRule ^$ www.googlehammer.com [R=302,L]

(or to a page offering your own SEO services "We're so good that SEO agencies like to claim our work as their own")

Nice idea. Gotta get the link first. I think that's what pissed me off the most, there was no link back to the site. Goes to show what a link whore I am...

That would last a week... However, putting this douche through a WF tribunal will last a lifetime...

I had a competitor steal all my shit about 5 years ago... Filed DMCAs, dealt with a lawyer, yada yada... Had WIA been around then, I would have gladly fucked him so hard he'd still be out of business!

If the general consensus is, "ask him to stop, and if he doesn't don't waste your time", why should anyone on WF waste any time ruining the guy's business?
