I'm looking for some free or cheap traffic sources as I don't really have the money right now for PPC, so I figured I'd try article marketing. I've gathered that EzineArticles is the best place to do it. I'm going for the direct clicks, and not so much the distribution/SEO benefit, though that will be nice too.
My question is this: When does a term become too competitive to get an EzineArticle ranked in the top 10 for?

So 1 article, no promotion, no backlinks, etc, solely riding on ezinearticles' authority - what's a good range of competition, either in monthly searches or competing sites? Keep in mind that I just want a top 10, not a #1.

Thanks

ezine is good for a parasite (though it's monetization options are shit from what I remember) but you're misguided if you think you'll do anything in the serps without links. Internal authority only goes so far.
