Anyone have any good resources on how to effectively START an affiliate program for your business?

Im in the educational space... and the company Im working with is looking to start doing an affiliate marketing company and paying out 5-15$ per lead to those who help get us qualified leads.

Any ideas?

thanks!

What does your business offer?

Well the company has 80+ schools... and they are looking to create an affiliate marketing program so that we can get influential bloggers in the fashion, entertainment, beauty space to place the affiliate links on their site... link back to a commission junction or something to track them... then pay $5-$15 per lead depending on the amount of leads brought in from each source.

Does that help?

You just answered your own question practically. Commission Junction would be a good choice for your company. Setting up with them wouldn't be difficult, and they will help you get set up with all the tracking. You may also try affiliate networks such as copeac and ads4dough; they would help you get get fully set up, plus your offers will be exposed to more affiliates.

yes cj is a good option

@$ix, I agree with the others. Since you didn't mention a budget towards setting up a tracker it sounds like going with a network like CJ is a good place to start. If it turns out that an aff program is worth it you can homeroll it later if the network eats too much in fees.

And here's a counterpoint to all the glowing reviews surrounding hasOffers.. There Aren’t Enough No Name Affiliate Networks | ppc.bz

I'm wondering if ShareASale.com would be a possible option as well? My experience with them has been good, but only as an affiliate though, not as a vendor/advertiser.

Seems that you might be able to contact either CJ, ShareASale, A4D or C2M and others to get advertiser feedback or references. I'd bet they'd be happy to help you that way if they can possibly acquire a new and valuable advertiser.

There is a much simpler solutions than CJ. Call Mitch at MDTdirect
They are representing activeprospects lead conduit system in the education space.
Much less expensive per lead.

PM me for Mitch's information.

Startup costs are low w/ ShareASale (if that's a concern). Good people over there too. I've worked w/ them on both ends of the equation. Only drawback is the volume might be lower than you can get elsewhere.

ya.. we at ShareASale have low set up costs. We have around 300k affiliates currently in our network.

before I worked at ShareASale i was also an aff and aff manager for a few programs... was always my favorite program to run a program (not just saying that because I am with them now... i am not in sales)

feel free to hit me up if you have any questions!
