I signed up with shareasale recently because they seemed to have a large database for my niche (nutritional supplements) but I am not happy with them.

Too many advertisers with low funds...

A confusing screen when you want to view your stats...

very low commissions (like 5% for products that cost $10!)

Does anyone know of better affilliate programs that have good nutritional supplement companies?

Regarding the Advertisers funds - It works based on how much volume is going through them. For example, if I'm an advertiser and I have $100 in my SaS balance, and I have 5 affiliates that make $20 in commissions each for the day, my credit card (or other payment method) will automatically be billed for $100 at the end of the day to keep the balance where it needs to be. Much like AdWords periodically hits your credit card to keep up with your activity. This is just a simplistic example, but the point is the keep a running account balance based on activity - it's not an indication that the advertisers have no money.

Stats / General Usability - Definitely agree that they could be better.

Commissions - Find better programs to promote :)

My overall opinion - for networks like CJ, SaS, Linkshare, Performics etc....SaS does a much more proactive job at keeping BS out, treating their affiliates well and has their ear closer to ground of the affiliate community than the others I mentioned. The guy that runs it, Brian, is a class act (so I hear from my personal network).

On the negative side, they are much smaller and don't have the breadth of advertisers to choose from as some of the other networks I mentioned.

If you're looking for big payouts, stick to the CPA networks.

My 2 Cents.

I've used SAS to promote one merchant before, and had no problems. Yes, their interface isn't the most intuitive or user friendly, but for what I needed it for, it worked. Most of what you'll find there are smaller merchants working on CPS deals. They do have a wealth of smaller niche advertisers that you might not find elsewhere, thanks to their low minimum fee model for advertisers.

I have been with shareasale for a few months and besides their slightly unintuitive stats system haven't had any problems with them. They have some nice companies to promote as well if your prepared to do the digging

Health Labs - Average rip around $40. High epc...etc. If you are getting under 30% for supplements you are getting robbed blind dude.

Low funds really doesn't mean much because they autobill your credit card on every transaction rather than taking a deposit. Some active merchants are doing sales all day and billing all day. I have never heard issues with payment (I don't pay too much attention.

Overall SAS sorta sucks, but sometimes you gotta do whatever if you are looking for niche offers. Heh, I recently have been promoting a cj program. Hoping to collect cash in 09 from them :)
