I didn't see this posted, and sorry if it is old news:

Shoemoney posted that he was extorted for $5k, or else his link would be pulled from DMOZ. I'm not sure if this is linkbait or not, because elsewhere it seems like people indicate they do pay to have sites listed.

I am shocked. OK not shocked. But surprised.

shoe's a showboating media whore. If you're looking for celeb to follow and whorship at least pick a good one.

Maybe so but I think DMOZ is terrible. Most of their editors just do whatever the fuck they want, so when Shoe wrote that post I was not surprised in the least.

Google needs to either buy them out or stop sucking them off because they are just wretched.

Well actually Smaxor, I worship you, but I was to shy to admit it.

Nah, actually if it is true that he had paid for DMOZ links previously, I wasn't sure if I should feel bad because I never thought of that or good that I hadn't had to stoop so low.

Drama? Why?

They claimed he couldn't be in there, because he offered a bribe to an editor to get listed.

It looks like Shoemoney may have asked for it. Oh well, who knows? Enough drama.

wtf?

I do not see why people wanna get in DMOZ these days.
Heck, case in point, I have two sites.
#1: PR4, listed in DMOZ, tons of quality contents, generate less than 100 visitors/day

#2: PR2, not listed in DMOZ, 500/ day and is growing.

Grow up and do some link bait.

So how can it be extortion if he offered to pay? :D
