I've been reading blogs from Shoemoney, John Chow, Zac Johnson and all those other dudes out there but am a little bit suspicious about something.

Me thinks that they probably make more money by "selling the dream" - by getting an army of affiliates to work underneath them.

I'm sure they still spend a good chunk of time making money with PPC, etc. but something seems odd about why there are so many of these make money online blogs with a zillion 125x125 ads on the right column.

Is there more money selling shovels? Thoughts? :spawn:

Shut the fuck up this has been discussed 100 fucking times on WF

yes they are douchefucks end of story kthnxbye.

they are the Illuminati of the affiliate world. If you can't make money online it's because of them hoarding all the good niches. Acceptance into the world of super dooper affiliates requires thousands spend on ebooks and subscription programs

I lol'd

The big bloggers are making big bucks. John Chow (who doesnt even really blog about anything except for paid posts) gets paid $500/paid post. Shoemoney doesn't really do paid posts, but when he does, I believe the rate is a few thousand dollars (and unlike John Chow, he apparently can actually drive sales for related products).

I know most people here don't like the blogs, or how they present things (or the egos), but it's a way to make money. Some people sell false weight loss hopes in green tea. Others sell false money making hope by blogging. If you're able to build up a blog with as much readership as these guys, that's great.

This man speaks the truth. All of these items are easily purchased from DigitalPoint.

They're popular and make money because they're good at branding themselves. Most of them wouldn't have gotten popular if they didn't have proof or anything to show that they weren't talking with their head up their ass. Not all of them started by blogging about taking a shit or what they ate for breakfast.

I don't read religiously, but I like going through the archives to pick out the popular posts. Those are usually informative, but some are outdated. I don't know about John Chow and Shoemoney, but Amit is the most inspirational I think. He's less flashy/spammy/telemarketer-esque than the rest.

I really hate the 125x125 ads though. I have no idea what any of them prompt. I've NEVER looked in that area, since I know it's just ads. Is that even good ad placement?

The secret to making a lot of money on referrals is *gasp* posting useful information on your site that actually helps people make money. It's no surprise that goober can only pull 3k per month on referrals judging by the content of his blog. For worthless people like him and john chow, its a numbers game: How many retards from digital point who make $5 per month can you bait into signing up to marketleverage with your referral link.

What a big surprise that actually having useful content that helps people make money would actually...help you make more referral commissions =P.

Anyway...yeah, 3k a month in referral rev with 4k+ subscribers to an affiliate marketing blog is really a situation in which you should be considering suicide via draino ingestion or bathing with your toaster. What a failure.

Not saying what you said is wrong at all, but what do you make with referrals? I know (nothing against uber either) that you don't "promote" affiliate networks as much as him but I would be interested in seeing how much you get a month in referrals.
