If you heard this week's Net Income podcast you heard how he thinks subscription affiliate marketing is hot.

Anybody know some good examples of these? or better yet a directory of these types of offers?

linda, just hit the show archive.

he didn't go into much detail, but i assume he was talking about recurring payments for products (kinda like how all the cpa offers are today... 1 week free trial, then bill bill bill until you cancel)

shoe has sites like nextpimp.com he sells memberships for 6 months at $20 makes a killing at it. I think that is what he is talking about!

Funny that this was mentioned as a hot topic, because I am in the process of building 30 subscription based sites. I'll also be launching it's own private affiliate program, although I will be giving exclusive rights to up to 3 ad networks to promote the offers as well. The entire project will be going live by November 1st.

I'll be issuing a beta release to medium and large volume affiliates. The industry it's in has absolutely zero competition, and it should convert at a pretty high rate. I'll also be regulating the number of affiliates who are allowed to promote it via specific PPC engines, so to give everyone a fair shot at making the most out of their ad budgets.

The avg affiliate commission will be about $50 per signup, and affiliates will be allowed to market it with any legal means possible.

It's none of these industries either: pharma, ringtones, email/zip submits, webmaster info, adult, information products, education, entertainment, finance, etc. NONE of these big boys, just to give everyone an example..

a buddy of mine referred me to a subscription site that is apparently very successful.

the monthly fee is $100...and supposedly he has over 1,000 members - you do the math :)

the idea itself would be very easy to duplicate IMO - its on my list of things to work on in the future.

This is an excellent idea – I’ve never considered the low-cost subscription model before!

Here’s one approach that comes to mind: after significant research, setup a number of niche forums. Develop and promote the forums, and turn them into mini-portals. After attracting a significant number of members, introduce a low-cost forum subscription, and give the most prolific posters a free annual subscription - this is very simplistic, but definitely food for thought…. I’m gonna have a look at some low-cost, subscription-based forums.

I don't think people like subscription based forums. Ones that I can think of at the top of my head are dnforum(up front fee so not really subscription) and webmasterworld. other sites that use subscription model include ft.com (finicial times) and tons of porn sites. Is there any open source subscription management software about?

Wow Shomoney... I always thought you get the most out of AdSense and Ypn when I saw your AdSense check for $132,994.97.

What about content for subscription affiliate web sites? Where to get it... for example ring tones... are they free?

ya its pretty hot. a lot of people think that contextaul or affiliate is a big part of my revenue...

75,000 paying subscribers at 19.95 every 6 months =) (and grows about 300 people a day)

way passes my other forms of revenue and reoccouring is for sure the win.

I do only donation based subscriptions. (and they been building for 4+ years)

Very impressive my Rogaine needing friend. :338:

Subscriptions & recurring revenue are the holy grail, especially for an "e-product" where you don't need inventory.

There's a reason Alan Meckler sold SearchEngineWatch and SES -- very profitable enterprises -- to Incisive Media: to get more cash to buy subscription images firms... there's gold in them thar fees....

Hi,
I'm a newbie and I'm a little confused about these subscription based sites. Have them a premium section available only to subscribers or is the subscription like a recurring donation for the free content offered?
What are subscribers paying for?

Thanks for your help.
