I have read that it is not adviseable to have Google and others spider your affiliate links as they could be hijacked. If this is the case, how do you stop them?

worse thing that could happen is your affiliate link ranks higher in search results then your own site, which is still good, i've had that happen and i got 2-3 sales a day from it for about a month...
Carlos the famed 1970s era terrorist is waiting to hijack your links. He rides around the internet on the back of the Googlebot and then steals your links.
I can guarantee you this. Blocking google from your site will not make you any money.

Oh dear I really am a newbie.
No I wasn't trying to stop google I had heard that the links got hijacked so that the revenue went to somebody else. It appears that I was mislead. Sorry guys.
