...a lot to learn

I send the same text messages on a daily basis (contest entries) and I wondered if there is software available or an easy way of programming my phone to automate these messages?

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks, that sounds quite useful for running a contest but I'm actually just looking for a way to automate the texts I send on one particular handset for personal use.

For example, Instead of manually typing up 10 seperate texts each day I would like to type them once and then automate them to send every day for a specified time limit, if you see what I mean.

From what I can gather the mobivity service only allows you to text someone if they have sent a short code word to your specified number first, which is more for commercial use.

I just wondered if a programmer would be able to set my phone up to do this or if there was software readily availble to install onto the phone to allow it. Even if it can only be done on specific handsets I'm interested to learn more.

Thanks for your help.

you just write a script that sends an email. Then you put your text msg in the email.
You send it to #@carrier
so like if you wanted to send a sms to 111-555-1234 and its on the verizon network you send an email to 1115551234@verizon.com

cool! Thanks, that's exactly what I wanted to find out. So I'm sure it'll be along the same lines for the uk, I just need to learn to write a script first.

Cheers.

No it isn't, I've looked for a way to send sms like this before in the UK, but not managed to find a free way of doing it.

What carriers are you trying to hit?

I was actually wanting for a script I run to send me an sms if something happened, so I only need it to work with Orange. I've tried the @orange.net which doesn't work.
