But I'm only getting 4 visitors per day. I used google's keyword tool and it says that the global searches per month are 110,000. Shouldn't I see more visitors per day?

Yeah... If it's 110,000 searches per day but you're only getting 4 visits per day, I'm guessing that you're checking broad match instead of exact match.

You probably had it on "broad". On the left side click on the "exact" option to find out the real traffic that you should be getting. This is a common mistake.

Don't worry, I made the same mistake a few years ago when I jumped into the world of SEO...was a hard one to swallow after putting in a bunch of effort for little to no reward.

Trial and error. I made that mistake too. So imo, give up and move onto another key. In my personal keyword list, I wont touch keys that have less than 1,000 results. I usually go for about 25,000 exact searches for one domain (spread amongst 8-10 keywords).

Global is the wrong way to estimate traffic. Guess you figured that out the hard way.

^^About the same. 1000+ locals per key, but very targeted keywords

This reminds me of my noob days. Many a dumb site did I make. :(

LOL yeah everybody has to start somewhere....I remember my noob days, and sometimes I still feel like a noob even though I've been doing this shit full time for the last 5 years..

The good thing is I didn't spend a lot of time and money on this site at all, so it could have been worse. Besides using the exact match when searching with the keyword tool, any other suggestions for keyword research?

that is cool, but at the same time sucks. I always talk to different noobs that make that mistake of doing broad instead of exact.

try using the exact keyword so if i was to target make money online i would type in [make money online]

you might see some different results when searching the exact keyword
