I have been lucky with my affiliate marketing and I don't have to track tons of keywords and conversion rates. I would like to start doing this and
wondering what the best way or software to track conversions via PPC or other incoming traffic?

Basically I want to see what terms are converting the best.

Currently I use CJ, Shareasale, Linkshare, and Azoogle, CPAempire.

Is there a simple way to do this? Or a software program I can install? Or 3rd Party that does this?

If you haven’t been doing any keyword tracking, then you have been making a big mistake. With PPC, that’s one of the biggest (and easiest) way to optimize a campaign regardless of if it’s already profitable.

If you drive the right volume you can work this out with your networks directly (depending on their system).

Anyway, sometimes you can convince companies to pixel the conversion page, or do things like insert your AdWords conversion tracking code. Although, you can really only swing this if they know you can drive high volume.

I have been using a custom programed solution. Because you can't put code on a confirmation page you need to generate custom referall ids.

Right, but you're still at the mercy of your affiliate network for the reporting. You can track referral clicks all day long but only the network can tell you what converted. If the reporting sucks (azoogle) it's a pain in the ass.

What you can do is append the keyword as the subid in the url. When the lead is generated, it will show you the subid, so you can see which keyword coverted for you. Not all networks use subids. If yours doesnt, sign up with us, and I can show you how to set it up...... Well...either way, sign up with us :)

I've always wondered this...

Take Adwords/Adsense for example...

Great, I can finetune my advertising campaign by using the keywords and advertisements that do the best job converting surfers to my website VIA pay per click for a reasonable price.

Then, I can use Adsense to see which ad units are converting the best and play with placement/sizes/colors to optimize my advertisements

BUT - there is no way to see which users clicking through from adwords ALSO click through from adsense - and even further, from which advertisements. Also, how do people know what the "highest paying click" they've ever recieved was... how can you look at each individual click and see it's payout?

Finally, for organic website hits, coming from search engine traffic, is it possible to find out what keywords they used to get there? How helpful would that be! It would help to know what ranking your website has for various, random keywords and I wish their was a tool where you could simply list your website... and it would tell you if you are listed at top of ANY search engine for ANY keywords.

Man... it seems like all I have is questions in this forum. I guess that's because I came from forums like Namepros and Afternic where people are a couple steps behind. Thanks everybody and hopefully I'll be the one ANSWERING questions soon!

Too see from which paid and organic searches people click through. Try this http://www.seobook.com/archives/001370.shtml or http://www.asrep.com/ and soon, if not already, http://www.adlogger.org/ will be able to do this.

Too see each individual payout you really must login to your adsense account alot and see how much your earnings increase after a click. If you get alot of clicks, adsese will update to slow for you to do this.

<------- Now gimme some rep! :D

This wont track conversion but it will track ctr for your ads.
