Not saying for sure, but the more I read about this shit the more a pattern seems to emerge.
If one was to decide to, eh, cash out, on a venture like that, with the goal in mind of taking in the largest amount of cash they can in the shortest period of time, isn't that what you'd do?
I know in the past some sellers who trade in illicit goods on ebay, silkroad, etc have done something similar:
* Build a good profile with good feedback and lots of quality transactions. Even sell at a loss to acquire new customers and positive experiences.
* Once order/revenue volume reaches a certain amount, flip the switch and collect money as quickly as possible, don't fulfill any orders.
* Take that money, pay it to "contractors" and overseas workers. Show a net-loss on the books.
* Make ridiculous claims to keep the cash-hog pissing money into your laundry network.
* Bankruptcy, law suits, whatever...
* ???
* Profit.
Shit like this has even gone down through corporate acquisitions over the years.
