I guess I will make my first post here slightly controversial.

A couple weeks ago, I registered a PR4 domain (nikko-remote-control-car.com) that recently expired and dropped. I then created a site and then decided to sell it because of other projects taking up most of my time.

Last week, I sold the site on another forum and at the time it had a valid PR4 and everyone was happy. Now, the buyer is coming back to me and accusing me of scamming him because the site is now showing a fake PR.

I have no idea how this happened. I do know in theory how to fake a PR but I've never done it or had the desire to.

Can an expired domain that may have had fake PR before it expired keep the fake PR after it is deleted and the re-registered?

OR...

Is there a way to find out if the guy who bought the site is trying to scam me into giving his money back by faking the PR himself and sending me false accusations?

Oh the drama....lol

Thanks for your help!

Well, that's what I thought too! LOL

And I checked many times myself all at different places -- including the place that is now showing the fake PR (seologs.com) and I never had any indication of fake PR until now.

pretty sure expired domains lose their pagerank. so it was probably still showing the old pagerank up until the last update, then dropping back down to zero making him think it was fake.

You sold it ..He bought it if that site jumped to PR8 he wouldn't be crying. Them's the breaks. At the time of sale based on current info it was PR4. You nor he can control what happens ater the sale.

With that crap name it is probably for spam anyway so he should make his money back quickly and if it is not for spam and going to be a whitesite then with fresh content it should pop back to PR4 in no time.

Bottom line unless there were stipulations involved it's over of course you could just be "nice" and take it back. next time use an escrow service and avoid the trouble.

Man, google just needs to DROP this PR bullshit. EVERYONE bases EVERYTHING on a stupid green bar now.

If I am buying site, I request LOGS... you know.. STATS... because I want to see TRAFFIC and EARNING POTENTIAL. A PR9 is shit to me without traffic.

Every year I hate PR more and more.

Yeah I was catching dropped domains for a while, and everyone I spoke to said the PR falls off after the drop.

I couldn't agree more. I know people with PR6 and PR7 sites that have no traffic. They just have good sites linking to them. One of my friends runs a video site with a PR6 but he has only 40 or 50 uniques a day. WTF?

You're right on the money here, Scott. It's all about the STATS to me as well, not *just* the PR. What good is a PR without the traffic to back it up?

Damn, you fucking nailed it right on the head.

I would give you some +rep except I gave all my rep for the day to Tenshaku in the form of negative rep. :D

That's exactly my point. I have PR2 or 3 (whatever) sites that get way more traffic than that.

Well, you can still make money od high PR site even if it's without traffic. As far as there are people who will to pay pretty nice money for a stupid PR6 link.

indeed. the way ive seen it is that you can buy an expiring domain and squeeze that pagerank out for as long as you want (if you make a smart changeover), but just having the pagerank wont do crap for you in terms of generating traffic - you gotta build up your desired traffic much like a fresh site.

If he bought it because of the pagerank, its his own fucking problem. If he bought for some reason other than the pagerank, then he needs to stop whining.

Exactly. He was dumb enough to buy it, just give him the finger and be on your way...

Yeah, pagerank is lame... I've never tried it but I've heard you can just do www.mydomain.com CNAME google.com wait awhile and you're PR will skyrocket...

really, I'm not a bad person.
