Some questions about articles

So say I've just written an original article. The title is a phrase I want to rank for. I use the article as a wordpress entry or have it in an articles page. When I submit it to directories, is using the same article verbatim something to avoid? Also, is there a point in building backlinks to the articles I submit to directories (i.e. a backlink to ezinearticles.com/myarticle), or should I only concentrate on building links going straight to my page?

I think that directories what are human edited wont accept links like ezinearticles.com/yourarticle. So i suggest to use to build your backlinks to your domain.

Building backlinks to your ezinearticles article is beneficial. Since EZA already ranks high (probably higher than your website) I would use socialmarker and bookmark the article to the ones that allow EZA submits.

I put the article on my blog, then send it to EZA. Once EZA has accepted it, I change the title and 1st paragraph and submit it to other dirs., but I do not build links to those articles.
