Hey,

So I've been getting some emails from people saying that when they visit my site, they are automatically redirected to some other site, sometimes it's for a ringtone, email submit, etc.

It's happened to me once, but I didn't think much of it, just that I better scan my computer that night to make sure I'm not infected with something.

Well now that I got a few emails about it, could it be possible that my website(s) are somehow hi-jacked? (not sure if that's the right term) And if so, how can I check if they are?

Help is appreciated!

Thanks!

Are they foreign visitors? If it's a US-only offer and they're foreign they might be sent to alternate offers, usually it's Webfetti, fun cards or random email submits for me (in Australia) though.

There are typically two common reasons:

1) The visitors are from a country that is not needed by the advertiser.
2) The advertiser is pretty much scrubbing your visitors in rough terms. Their trying to grab your visitors and send them to a different related page; so they would receive conversions without paying the network or anyone else.

Is there any other way that users would be getting redirected then?
I saw it happen in front of my own eyes at school, so I know its not just because someone is not US. I didn't even click the affiliate link. Just going to the LP had me redirected to some Forex site.

@ omgyams:
Thanks that link really helped.

@ d03boy:
I was able to check for that through the link omgyams posted. Thanks!

@ Enigmabomb:
No.

For now I just went ahead and upgraded to the newest Wordpress.
Perhaps it was just the school computer. We'll see with time.
