Does anyone have any experience with Sports Picks offers?

I have been asked by a company to scale/promote their sports picks offer and have no experience with the vertical. What I know at this point is that most affiliates stay away from them, but I am not clear on why. Obviously, Paid Search campaigns are risky because the search engines specifically appose Gambling related advertisements and email probably hits most of the spam filters, but I have got to imagine there is some way to promote this offer.

Any ideas would be excellent. Or if you are interested in learning more about the offer PM me. There is definitely money to be made if someone knows what they are doing.

Thanks for the input.

As far as what I remember reading, affiliates in the USA weren't allowed by law to promote gambling/sportsbook type offers.

I have some really grabasstic unorganized experience in this area (but have made some $$).

It's possible to get these ads on AdWords, just be careful with your wording and your landing page (no casino affiliate stuff on the lander, etc) and be prepared to be rejected more than half the time.

StumbleUpon works fairly well -- 5 cent clicks from people interested in gambling? Sure.

Make sure you use an email solution that helps with deliverability like Sendgrid or something like aWeber.

Plenty of cheap offline promotion opportunity.

Plenty of opportunity for direct media buys with bloggers, podcasters, etc. Just don't let yourself be bullshat on traffic stats.

Facebook has potential but you have to get creative (making almost-related groups, pick'em contest apps, etc)

I've recently seen stuff like this running on espn.com - which surprised me but I have no idea how well it works there (I'm guessing good if you can get it in).

Thanks @jraines for the info. Very helpful.

The company simply sells its picks on a subscription basis. I have seen a number of Google ads out there but I am don't want to risk my account not knowing what I am doing.

I wounder if Adknowledge or WebJuice would run this type offer

Would you be interested in running an offer like this? The payout is fairly attractive. Let me know if you are interested. I am looking to partner with someone that knows more then me. :)

Again, thanks for the tips!

I have done marketing for "picks" but I often find the companies getting into this have no idea what they are doing. For instance credit card processing. Most use a 3rd party (against visa/mc regs), don't have multiple MIDs, etc. Not trying to be negative just my personal experience in this niche. Anyways be careful and if you want any info feel free to shoot me a PM.
