so starbucks is having a 'free coffee promotion' tomorrow that they (and the media) are hailing as "environmentally friendly." its crazy to me how all of these environmental nut jobs don't stop to think for even a quick second about the effects of such a promotion. the thousands of people who probably wouldn't otherwise take the time to drive to starbucks will be burning gas to drive there and take advantage of this deal. this will put far more pollution into the air than if the company didn't have the promotion at all. the fact that they are going to be saving some "paper cups" will have a very small impact.

Nobody cares about the environment, I don't care if I have to club baby seals, I'll take a free coffee any day.

you guys are funny. i wasn't actually tryin to be an environmentalist there -- instead I was highlighting the hypocrisy of the media. but yeah, in some instances you can actually argue that more C02 in the atmosphere is good for the environment (the media however, doesn't agree with this on political grounds). more C02, the more nutrients plants receive, the warmer the earth gets -- and turns places like canada etc into fertile, livable land with more temperate climates worldwide.

Al Gore is going to fly his private jet across the country to as many Starbucks locations as he can to applaud Starbucks for doing their part to save the environment.

i really hope you/a4d buys carbon credits to offset your carbon traffic footprint.

edit: should prolly label this as sarcasm since i won't be around to defend the tard replies

Of course Starbucks is not sincerely environmentalist. But they're good at promoting that image for marketing purposes.

Real environmentalist nutjobs don't go to Starbucks. It's all the yuppies who want to pretend they have some values beyond consumerism who get sucked into Starbucks' environmental hype. Starbucks gives them an opportunity to feel like they're contributing something of value to the world, without actually having to do anything other than spend $5 on a coffee. It's brilliant. I try to look at what I can learn from these things, rather than just say they're rediculous.
