Hi there,
I am about as new as it gets and this is my first post.
Firstly i just want to say what an awesome resource this is. I came to wickedfire by way of Jon's blog which is also awesome so thanks to everyone who contributes.

My question,..
Do any of you use frames so that your adsense ads stay in view the whole time that the reader scrolls through your main body of text? does this affect your CTR? I am putting together a site to promote the free glucose meter from access diabetic supply that i found on CJ. I have the layout done but re writing the huge amount of articles I've C&P'd into notepad is kicking the shit out of me. I plan on posting a link and results so that I can beg for advice and so that you can all laugh at what a bollock i make of it.

So what your saying is your creating a site around an affiliate offer, well I can already suggest a few things, keep the adsense out of it, you want people to click through to your affiliate offer, create a landing page and not an entire website, however you are trying to generate a lead for this product so if you are thinking of creating an actual website that you'll keep updating each day for a long ass time in order to generate a decent reader base then mentionizing this product would be the way to go.

If your only trying to make the lead, then you don't need a lot of content, write up one good article which fills up about a standard page view (1024x768 resolution), have a look at some of the Arbi site examples around, then change it to suit your affiliate product, another words, take down the Adsense, place up one or two nice looking banners, make sure the landing page of the offer is half decent, from there toss in your article mentionizing the product and provide a few of your affiliate links in your content (Write for people first Search engines later).

Now comes the other part of how are you looking to get people to your site, through the Search Engines or through Pay Per Click Advertising?, if its through PPC then go the route I was suggesting, if your dealing with the search engines you might want to read up on a few SEO articles, and take your time to do your Keyword Research.

There is quiet a lot of information to cover to generate a decent amount of leads but take your time and don't get disapointed if you don't make anything at all, just try not to spend thousands getting it to work.

P.S. What I've said here is just a broad explanation of what could be done, its not set in stone nor is it a step by step guide.

Awesome, Thanks for the input

Is it worth testing one with just adsense and no affiliate offer, against a page with no adsense, and just the affiliate offer, to see which one makes the most over a period of time (obviously leaving both up if both are profitable).
or is it better to get the page up as you suggested, and make sure that's profitable first?

I was going to SEO it and buy 2nd tier traffic until my Quality score goes up

If your question is simply should you iframe the adsense to keep it in view, I'd say go for it. I don't see any problems with it unless you get crappy ads show up or if you get an ugly iframe border that distracts from the page.

Well now your talking about two different sites, MFA (Made For Adsense), and an landing site made for your affiliate product. Made for adsense sites can be done in a variety of ways, if your looking to make any decent money with an MFA site I suggest reading all there is on Arbitrige on this forum, there is a ton of information here that will help you understand it better.

If your placing Adsense on a site you plan on having up for a long time to grow a reader base then ad placement and targeting should be a focus, with mentioning an affiliate product once you become trustworthy.

I would start off by keeping your two sites seperate, keep one dedicated to the affiliate offer and another one dedicated to Adsense, there is a lot to cover with both of these so I suggest doing a search for "landing site", "landing page", "arbi", and "arbitrige" on the forum, this will teach you a lot about what your trying to do right now.

Total noob don't know what an Iframe is
I'm talking about a page with 2 columns (frames)
the main body of text would have a scroll bar on it because it would extend beyond the confines of the readers browser window, however, the 2nd column would have no scroll bar as the ads will fit in the browser window and as they are in seperate frames the adsense column would stay still as the reader scrolled through the article. My thinking before reading the responses was to build a site with a few articles,... diabetes symptoms (type 1 and 2), diabetes in children, diabetes in pregnancy etc thus the articles serve as a resource while all the time plugging the affiliate offer, and then if they get bored with my boring ass article they can click one of my adsense ads and i make a few cents. as long as it makes me more than it costs me i'm happy right? I can see though that i'd be shooting myself in the foot if everyone clicked my arbi links and i got no leads I guess I'll just start with just the afill offer and test.
Thanks for your help aequitas,.. and everyone else

stay off the crack

That sounds good in theory, but it won't work. Aequitas was right when he said don't put AdSense ads on an affiliate offer page. You might lose out on a few affiliate offers converting just because the user got distracted by an AdSense ad. So, instead of a decent commission payment you get a few cents from google.

Basically, don't mix affiliate offers and adsense on a niche site.

if you frame your adsense ads, spam the iframed page with the keywords you're trying to get ads for. like put the ad inside a table and name the table PAYDAY-LOANS if you're trying to get loan ads, etc. Otherwise, you'll get PSAs.
