Hello all,

I am trying to get an idea off the ground. It would be an online business where I would be prompting another businesses products. So by people coming to my site the other party could make a potential sale. I would thus make money off the actual sales and maybe even number of clicks on their links.

Do I need to patent this type of site? It’s not an invention or anything new.

What are the steps I would need to take in order to get something like this started?

I appreciate all your help, thx.

???

What you're describing is an affiliate site. You can't patent that.
To be very basic, you need a domain, hosting, you need to write content for the site or have it written, you need to sign up with an affiliate network and get some links and put them on your site. Then you need to get traffic to your site.

I guess that's about it - very very basically.

Best of luck with that mate. I helped my dad do one of those many years ago. If you go about it the right way it can make you quite a lot of money.. but then there is a decent amount of competition around now. Let us know how it goes ;)

Sounds a little like you need to have a good look around this forum before you start. Affiliate marketing can be very lucrative, but its hard work trying!

not wishing to put you off this forum, but the guys 'round here don't take any prisoners and tend to focus on the more advanced affiliate marketing techniques.

i would advise you check out a4uforum.com as this will give you a gentle introduction to affiliate marketing. once you're mastered the basics, come back and share the wealth!

Nicely said but he doesn't actually have to visit another forum all he needs to do is read all the newbie guides and do some searches for affiliate marketing, PPC, Arbi, SEO, SEM and read through all of them and don't post super broad questions like how do I make money online.

Its not that we don't like to help people here its just that most newbies have no clue how much information their is, most people think its a matter of setting up a site, doing nothing to it and ranking in thousands, I cannot wait for the day when people stop thinking like this about the internet, its a lot of work to make any real money online and it takes a lot of time to learn the right ways to do it.

You're absolutely right, I stand corrected! To make up for my faux-pas let me just say that I have received more good information from this forum than I ever have from any other.

No you don't need a patent for this kind of website, this technology already exists and a site can actually be setup do this very easily... do a Google search for affiliate schemes and you will see that there are lots of schemes available offering you the chance to make some money by sending sales to other companies. One I tried and make regular income is maximumprofitsdaily.com I make a regular income of $70,000 per month now.

You're absolutely right. I remember when I first started, I thought it was just setting up a website, getting some affiliate links, and then I'd be making millions. but. it turns out I didn't make a single dollar. You have to find your own way of affiliate marketing, for example, I give my members an incentive for making a purchase at my site.

You got this right. It does take a lot of time.

Thanks guys,

I know all of this because once upon a time I was one of the poor souls thinking it was easy as setting up a website and boom you'll make tons of money, this of course was many years ago and I'll even admit that all those years ago I was reading the useless eBooks that were out there on how to make money online.

The thing was I never gave up and I eventually learned the CORRECT way to do things and I can now pretty much smell a scam from a long way away, if you've got the perceverince to succeed, then you will eventually succeed, you've just got to keep at it and never give up. (And yes there will be times you will want to give up).

P.S. I was going to report this spammer then I noticed he was already banned haha.
