I'd like to learn a few languages so when I travel I at least know what people are saying around me so I won't get taken advantage of, and also not get lost. I have Rosetta Stone, but I haven't had a lot of extra time to devote an hour to it more than about once a month without any interruptions. So, I was curious if anyone has had any success / benefit from subliminal tracks.

Preferably, I'd like one that I don't hear and it teaches the language so I can have the thing playing while grinding all day.

I've looked through a couple on Spotify, but they only "get your mind prepped" and are to be used in "conjunction" with actual learning (which to me means they are taking credit for you "thinking" they work).

I'd like to learn Spanish, German, Mandarin, and Japanese - in that order. So any suggestions are welcome.

Subliminal as in "can not be heard" doesn't work.

NLP is a whole different thing though and it can be used to enhance teaching. You gotta look at it as a teaching style.

oye no se wey pero mira este web site, es muy interesante

Fluent in 3 months

saludos

Looks interesting and I agree that the best way to learn is speaking + immersion. Ultimately though, that whole site (very nice too) is just an affiliate blog pushing his ebook.

I took Spanish every year in school from Kindergarten through 5th grade, then 4 semesters in College (and that was just a couple years ago). I remember nothing but the very basics.

I'm not looking for a shortcut or anything, just something to keep it fresh in my mind until I can get some time to pop into Rosetta Stone and actively learn. If it was still fresh, then I could advance through it better and retain more.

Right now, it's like I'm still starting new each time.

This isn't Subliminal or NLP, but Pimsleur works really well. I use Pimsleur to learn Mandarin Chinese and I find it very effective. I'm almost done with it, and plan on moving to a dedicated language tutor after.

Pimsleur won't make you fluent, but it'll give you a strong foundation and you'll know 400+ words.
