Suggest a light 'To-Do' desktop application

Suggest a standalone application as simple as this:

The one I'm using is actually a Yahoo sidebar gadget but I want something standalone, no fancy. It should just list my todos & allow me to tick when they're done (KISS)

I've never used a todo list app, but I have found myself using the built in sticky notes with Windows 7.

There's a great program called "Active Desktop Calendar" that puts a small configurable calendar on your desktop with a to do list, scheduled tasks, and other handy features. I highly recommend it.

OK I downloaded Rainlender & removed the 'Calender' & 'Events' docks & kept the ToDo dock visible.

Exactly what I needed!

This is not quite free but I use it on my Blackberry and it's a life saver. It's a task manager and get things done app Kartamobile.com.

Used to use Outlook Tasks (Fuck... I lived in Outlook), now use an online task manager.
