i have an offer from cj that i want to promote thru search but i can't place a tracking pixel on CJ b/c theyre horrendus.

anyway, when i do get a convert on CJ, i can see what sub id converted

so this is what im thinking ... can i just use t202 and keep cloaking on and then when i get a convert for the offer shouldn't the cloaked subid tell me which keyword converted on t202? or am i missing something?

I don't use CJ much but they don't allow your tracking software to "cloak links". Just giving you the heads up since they can reverse all your leads if the referrer is cloaked.

You have to be totally transparent on CJ. No cloaking. Just pull your subid report manually and put them into prosper. It will show which keyword converted.

^^^ this is kind of what im talking about .. but i wasn't talking about cloaking my links .... just the sub ids

am i getting this mixed up tho? i have cloaking set to "on" in t202, i thought this cloaks my keywords ... so if someone converted on "buy acai" it would come up on cj as "392920" ... is this not correct?

no, this is done by default, every subid is dynamically created off the page load .js at the bottom of your landing page and this number is populated onto the end of links when you stick them into prosper, so "buy acai" would never get passed through to the network.

CLOAKING refers to passing the referrer as your tracking domain versus your landing page domain.

So if you're on: www.ashittyberrysiteIrippedofffromsonnyforelli.com and the person clicks, hits your tracking domain of 'suberdooperfuckingafftracker.com' and then to the CJ merchant cloaking will show the referrer to be 'superdooperfuckingafftracker.com' and NOT the landing page domain that the person was on.

This obviously prevents people at networks or elsewhere from having visibility into your LPs and everything fun that comes with them from Quantcast/Alexa/all the keyword spy programs not to mention google/yahoo/msn PPC listings.

If you turn it OFF in prosper it will show www.ashittyberrysite.... which is apparently waht you need to do to be compliant.

thx that cleared a lot of shit up, but the offer doesn't require a LP i'm just direct linking ... so the same concept w/ the keyword will still work right?

.. also, the tracking pixel doesn't matter then right?

if you run ANYTHING through prosper it will append a sequentially dynamic subid value onto the end of the link. So long as you set the links up correctly your keyword will NEVER BE PASSED as a subid, instead this numerical value will, that's the whole point.

so yes, direct will also have a number and not a keyword

wtf are you talking about?
I have been running CJ for 3 years and been cloaking my referrer from day 1

If you're meta refresh blanking your referrer, you're pretty much guaranteed to get network quality on your ass, or have a merchant kick you out of their program. I've worked on the advertiser end of CJ programs before, and I can tell you that it happens all the time.

You need to cloak to a "deals" type site that is dynamic off a feed and is searchable. Thus network quality sees, goes to it, and can search and click through your link(s). Doesn't need to be pretty, just functional. Toss in some apache fun re-writing images and you have the basis for how the big guys have been cookie stuffing in there for years.

i dont care about cloaking b/c im direct linking .. i just dont want my kws showing up .. and thats not the case ... but i'm still kind of confused about the tracking pixel ... if i can just upload my subids to t202 .. whats the point of the tracking pixel?

uh- to do this automatically, so that you don't have to manually upload subids accross thousands of actions per day accross a dozen networks and 80 different advertisers.

Nice. Such a basic concept, but it didn't even occur to me.

naturally that site 'varies monetization methods based on a proprietary algorithm that continually adjusts as conversion data is fed back into the system- so if you're seeing banner ads or adsense on that term currently this could be why.'
