What do you guys do to test your ads? Once you start getting some traffic and clickthroughs, what do you do to test your ads to get more clickthroughs? Also, when you do paid searches for you affiliates do you always have landing pages or do you just send them directly to the advertisors page?

1.) You can test CTR with changing color themes, sizes, position! But what's even more important is that you're showing related ads not something completly different, you fix that with google section solution..
2.) It depends on quality of advertisers landing page.. If it sucks and there's no way someone will see what is the site about it's smart to create your landing page.. It's plus that with landing page you can monitor your visitors with crazyegg and such... With directly marketing it's plus because you know every visitor will come where it should come to..

I agree, testing cpc ads is simple. All you have to do is change colors, move the ads around on your site, etc. The main thing you have to do while doing this is to note it all down plus if you are using Adsense then you can use their channels to see how each ad block performs in each location of the site.
