I'm feeling the heat right now with an estate in probate, and I have 2 affidavit witnesses trying to gouge me for $100 each just to sign their names. I have to work longer than a whole day right now to make $100, but I can't settle the estate without them signing the affidavits.

They are thieves, plain and simple, even though they wear nice clothes and send you their demands on raised stationery. $100 just to sign a piece of paper. What a great racket.

This site gives me hope that I can be like them, too, knowing that I can draw a hefty income once I'm set up. Thanks for the support, info, and the 'tude.

$200 to close an estate is a deal compared to 99.99999999% of the other cases you'd find.

Either way, since some loved one probably died to put this situation at hand, sorry for the loss.

Thanks, it was my mother who passed away last year.

No, it's costing a lot more than $200. The witness affidavits are just part of the paperwork involved.

I have a paralegal for the paperwork and will be saving several thousand in the end. So I'm screwing the lawyers out of their $10,000+ fee. Family members encouraged me to get a lawyer, but in true WF spirit, I struck out on my own and doing it independently.
