Fack - I'm an old school headbanger... I could give you a list a mile long but my all time fave's are AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Savatage, Accept and a few others. Current newer bands that are impressing me are Van Canto, Arch Enemy, Nightmare, Tarja... too many to list really!

Favourite metal band is definitely Megadeth. No band matches the complex riffs of Dave Mustaine, and he sure knows how to pick lead guitarists. I suppose most people when they hear the name 'Megadeth' probably think ohh its death metal or emo shit, but that couldn't be further from the truth. Mustaine's vocals take some getting used to, but you can't say it isn't unique. Everyone's trying to be Phil Anselmo these days, fucken hate that shit (except for Phil, he was the original).

I saw Metallica last week, and I gotta say it was absolutely awesome. I'm not one of these "Megadeth kicks Metallica's ass dude!" type guys, I love em' both. I saw ACDC recently too but Metallica was just mindblowing.

I slowly getting into Megadeth now, going through their stuff more and more. That Opeth 3rd vid song was ok, the other two were wank. WTF is that death metal voice and cacophony of shredding all about? I don't get it. And then you get really quite faggy American metal bands like in Zimoks' post doing the screamo/death metal voice but they sound and look too polished... like a fucking pop band production. Or you get totally wack-job northern European band doing Black metal and WTFITS Metal.... I like music with melody.

God, I'm getting so grumpy as I get older!

All music is good music if it pleases someone. It's good to check out other bands.

Yeah, Slayer did a once off concert here playing the album in its entirety, I'm spewing now I should have gone. I did see them with Megadeth though and Araya lost his voice, so it was basically an instrumental Slayer concert.

Mustaine has a long-standing feud with Slayer guitarist Kerry King. King had previously been a temporary member of Megadeth in 1984. Even though Mustaine tried to convince him to focus on Megadeth rather than the "lame spikes" and "eye liner" with the "poseurs" in Slayer, Kerry refused to quit his main band.

Poor Dave has a whole wiki devoted to his feuds with people...

"Reign in Blood" is the greatest thrash album ever. Slayer did a lot of good stuff afterwards as well but I'm old enough to remember just how far ahead of everything else "Reign" was when it was first released. Mind blowing shite!

Saw them at Wacken in Germany 3 or 4 months ago - Killer gig!

Slayer. Everything is good although some of the new stuff gets repetitious. I don't think their early stuff gets enough attention. Then again I am an old fucker and actually saw them live in the (late) 80's.
