Lots of anger, jokes, and name-calling in these threads. All in good fun, right? :)

Now, on to something serious:

Emotions are obviously running high right now. Bin Laden has been our top bogeyman for years, and knowing that our SEALs have finally put a bullet in his skull has been cathartic. People, including many who are too young or ignorant to know history, rejoice:

A little silly, but fine.

It wouldn't hurt to reflect on bin Laden's stated reasons for attacking the U.S. I'm guessing a lot of you have read Osama's letter from 2002. He was very clear about why he attacked. The man was many things, but vague was not one of them.

Not more than a few years ago, the state managed to twist bin Laden's words to mean, "Osama wants to kill us because we're sinners according to Allah."

And people believed it. In fact, they ate it up.

The story changed several times over the years, twisting and turning until no one was certain about anything. But a manhunt for a mass-murdering, psychopathic cave-dweller?* Now that's something we can get behind! Simple and concrete. One skull, one bullet. USA!

Now, the man's dead. But the war on terror goes on. It wouldn't hurt to read Osama's letter again in the context of what Ron Paul has been saying for years:

Foreign military interventionism, a policy the United States has followed for over 100 years, encourages war and undermines peace.

I wouldn't be surprised to hear that bin Laden agreed.

I can think of a couple folks here who are thinking, "You're a terrorist sympathizer! How dare you spit on the graves of those who gave their lives so you could enjoy your freedom! You ungrateful bastard." My response:

That is all. Now, back to our regular programming.

* or, as it turns out, mansion-dweller. lol

Osama hates us because we're free and freedom isn't free it costs folks like you and me and if we don't all throw in our buck'o five, who will?

I hope you realize that that movie was making fun of America's retarded foreign policy (among many other things of course.)

If you're being sarcastic, I apologize, but I've heard a bunch of people quoting the movie and Parker and Stone were totally making fun of exactly what our government is doing at this very moment and the people that support it as well.

Someone needs to come up with a crazy story of what REALLY happened and then pitch it to south park, that would make a great episode.

At first when I saw all of these kids celebrating I was thinking that it was just a reason for them to get out and party (for many I'm sure it was). But when you think about it, these kids have grown up knowing friends and relatives that have died in the wars caused by Bin-Laden. Plus this is the first generation that has grown up with 9-11 in their History books. I'd be happy as hell as a teenager also.
