I re-installed Windows XP SP3 fresh on the pc I'm currently using, but ever since then, certain websites are inaccessible. Firefox just tells me "The connection was reset" and IE and Chrome won't access them either.

The weird thing is:
- 99% of all other sites work
- These same sites work fine on all other computers in our home network. Same network, router, ip-range, subdomain, gateway, dns, etc.
- If I ping the URLs, I get "Destination net unreachable". All the working sites ping just fine
- Windows firewall is disabled
- Clearing private data like cache, cookies doesn't work

...the fuck?

Possible hosts file entry for those websites? Can you get an ip address returned if you run nslookup domainname.com from the command prompt?

I had this shit happen to me as well. My IP refused to load mandarin sites for some fucked up reason. Check to see if you have the urls listed in the win direct under the same access files that is using some sort of a local network. See if your localhost txt file is blocking these sites. It could be due to an offline server like wamp or something. That was my problem. I got it rectified.

I had the same problem about 6 months ago. I reinstalled my adsl modem drivers after messing around with it and it worked fine.
