The Greatest Movie Extra



I wonder how much they pay him per film. I guess if you wanna do good in the extra scene, get ugly.

About a month ago I was watching George Lopez on Nick@Nite and thought to myself this kid is fuckin everywhere.

Current SAG background scale is $139/8.

In any case, I can almost guarantee you he made that video himself.

EDIT: Also, I just remembered where I know him from. Worked with him on a film called Driftwood when I was doing extra work years ago. I remember he had his PSP with him and was showing everyone some clip of himself in some other movie. Now I can say with further certainty that he made that video himself. Haha.

Yeh, it's 139, no idea where I pulled 180 from. It's definitely a lot less than what one'd expect.

As an extra you get what, 2 gigs per month? It is even possible to be a full time extra?

I guess it's easy money though.
 
I kept seeing him places and was thinking...that kids gotta be the next Jonah Hill!

And hell if I were him I would definitely make that video.

Union work can be tough to get. Depends on your look. If you want to work non-union (basically minimum wage + overtime and incredible food) you can get pretty steady work. If you can call it work.

I still do it once in a great while just for fun, if it's something cool. But I don't bother trying to find work. I hired a service where I just make myself available for whatever days I decide I want to do it and they submit me to whatever they think I'm right for on those days.
