No different than any other place. Advice is usually encumbered with personal motivations and biases. Knowing how to decipher it is a useful skill to have for life in general.
 
They should stop looking for advice in STS.

- I know when a thread is for shitz and giggles
- I know when a thread has legit info (we do have some good, helpful threads around here)

Anywhere else

- I know I'll be getting bullshit
- I know if I spend any amount of money, I'll be getting rehased hashed hash browns

I don't get disappointed when there's nothing "helpful" posted in days, or even weeks, but when something good gets posted, it's worth the time.

Seriously check out all of the case studies on ranking with Penguin the past month or so in the T&C. If you can't pick up any little nugget then you don't need to be on this forum looking for help anyways.
