The next generation of 3d printing (DMLS + CNC Hybrid)

Imagine this '3d printing' technology in 20~ years as well... they'll probably have the same machine installing electrical, steel rebar, and plumbing in 1 go.

It will be glorious, unless you're a carpenter.

I got to visit Valve to play with their VR recently and they had a bunch of stuff that was 3d printed, integrated into their daily lives, slick game controller prototypes, brackets on the walls, clips to hold cables, etc. Pretty neat to see it in use.

A few months ago I was in Portland hanging out with some developers at HP who were talking about a printer they're making that builds objects with powder 1 layer at a time and they were making machinery components with it.

Is 3D printing the next big frontier?

time was, a post like that would get you banned... you had to contribute quality or get absolutely destroyed.

welcome to the "new & unused wickedfire"... bro.

Powder printing has been around for quite some time. I think it's one of the original methods for 3D printing, before there was extruded plastic even.
