+ Altavista, Dogpile and DuckDuckGo ahead of Google for "search engine" and they aren't even in the first 2 pages for "search engines".

+ 3 Wikipedia pages above Facebook for "social network" and "social networking".

Lots of facepalm.

Google probably intentionally doesn't rank its self for the number 1 stop. If they did you'd here even more people bitch about it and when the FTC complains about them choosing their own properties over competitors they can point to that.

I have a gaming related domain for a hot topic and there isn't anything on the site other than an optin form. I'm at the top of page 2 and page 1. I'm not really sure why, because I haven't done jack shit with it.

Ive got at least 10 hello world pages ranking somewhere on the front page for 500-1500 search product / service terms. Including a number 1 ranking. All emds, all default fantasticoe wordpress installs with the keywords in the title.

The top 10 AND top 100 for "payday loans online" earlier was entirely high pr profile pages. Not lead-gen sites ranked using high pr profile pages, but the profile pages themselves.
