Digg.com earns over $15 million dollars a year and it is just a social news site. There is no merchandise and no storage. It also gets million of unique visitors every day. In addition, digg doesn't spend any money on advertising and only has a few employees.

Tech crunch makes over $3 million dollars a year and only pays for hosting. No promotion and no overhead. 99.9% pure profit.

Gigom, seomoz and johncow and problogger are also extremely profitable sites and require little if any money to run.

The key to success and making tons of money online is to create a site that generates tons of revenue, yet runs on autopilot. Those sites became successful because they were great ideas.

Wow, i'll be able to tell my Grandkids I was present when Maxwell Phil discovered the Holy Grail of Internet Profitablity.

It's like being there when the apple hit Newton on the head.

Since when does Digg only have a few employees? They have a lot from what I've seen and I'm sure their CEO doesn't work for cheap. Actually none of their workers work for cheap because they all work in SF and are good at what they do.

Uhhhh....I'm sure TechCrunch has a lot more overhead than you would think.

You know why these sites are great? Because they constantly have cool NEW stuff. People work hard on them. If they were to stop being updated today, they'd die off pretty quickly. They have writers who create content! That sure as shit doesn't come free.

If you can make something that is truly on autopilot and requires little or no upkeep, then major props to you. But pretty much anything worth millions of dollars probably isn't going to be on autopilot.

Many website owners are obsessed with hitting the frontpage of digg. If you think of it in those terms, digg is hitting the frontpage of digg dozens of times every hour... every single hour, every single day.

Putting it in that perspective... $15 million a year doesn't seem very good.

Digg's visitors are anti-advertisements so they can't crank a lot of advertisements.

Wow guys, since Maxwell Phil posted this, I've created several sites that will make me MILLIONS per year this year, all on autopilot and with NO overhead! You can learn how I did it in the $97 ebook I wrote 5 minutes ago.

Can't speak for the other three, but as problogger's former sysadmin, it's not "little if any money". He also doesn't make a lot off of problogger.net as he's said several times. Most of his income is off other sites, or spinoff ventures where he can use his popularity (such as jobs.problogger.net which is very profitable, has cheap hosting, but wouldn't make a dime unless it had the name on it)

unique content that has value for the visitors will always be rewarded.

None of the website mentioned above is a scraped content site.
scraped content can earn money, but for a short time.

I also have to admit, before this post, I was lost.......But you have given me the step by step guide to making millions, all by telling me the millions that digg.com makes. Thank you sir! Please if you have any more insights hook me up! Im off to now create my site that generates tons of revenue!
