Debt Free 100%. Feels good and all my income is mine.
The song first.

This is the system that got me started.

I will admit. I have a bigger shovel than most. But guys if you need some motivation: getting debt free 100% is one. Good luck bros. This forum has been good to me. I hope I can get at least one motherfucker to move.

That's great bro, congrats, now officially a free man. I too would like to become debt free. The only thing that keeps me bothered though is that the taxman can suddenly and without reason decide I owe a lot of money.

I know thats a different conversation. Tax is tax. Debt is stupid tax.

I saw Dave Ramsey live twice with my wife. It was important to get my wife on board. One of my biggest sources for finances now is actually Clark Howard.

I listen to them for ideas. But we all should know debt is slavery in a one form or another.

^^^
I get that part.

It just depends on your willpower.

Dont buy a liqueur store if you're an alcoholic. I just decited to fuck it all. I use my own money to finance everything now. Makes me really look into the shit I do now.

Congrats !

Dave is good shit- his office is in Cool Springs about 10 miles from my house, so he's real big around here.

Thing is, he preaches a real simple system based on the envelopes method, which is great, but if you are really looking for personal financial power then I wholeheartedly urge everyone who wants to get debt free to just buy and LIVE the YNAB software starting this fucking minute.

No aff link (no such thing, in fact), and it's been discussed here before:

Personal Budget Software - Finance Software for Windows & Mac

Do It.

Getting debt free is hard, but can be done.

CONGRATS!

Staying debt free is even harder. Especially when it sometimes seems like the whole world is conspiring against you.

Anyhow.

YNAB all the way. Learn their way of doing a budget and you are golden (if you stick with it)

The book is a bit dated, but it's similar to Rich Dad because it provides a major attitude adjustment about money and spending.

There are millionaires all over the place, but you'd never know it by looking at a lot of them. My mother worked for one like this, a man who owned a small roofing company. He wore overalls, and visited customers with his work crew in a dirty pickup truck.

Not sure where I read it, its been a few years.

The average millionaires are simple contractors like this that drive F-150s. It was in one of the books I read about money a few years ago.

Congrats on being debt free btw. I've went thru this process 3 times now.

I agree with others the hardest thing is staying debt free. Things come up all the time that make you want to break out the credit card or loan from the bank. If you have kids it is even harder. There is always some unexpected thing that comes up every year.

It's easy to go debt free, at least in the UK.

Go bankrupt.

I guess I can't even sleep with debt. Never had debt in my life ever and I can't imagine living with debt but that may be the difference of philosophies of two different nations.

Most of the Americans are fond of living with debt. Anyways congrats.

We have serious debt for the first time in my life. It is debilitating, and I am working non stop to get out from under it. We moved to a new city to help take care of family and the costs got away from us.

Do everything you can to be debt free. You will amazed at how good life can be comparatively.
