Where do you guys find the best of the best web designers? I am not talking about someone who puts together landing pages. I am not talking about someone who even puts together very nice designs. I am talking about the best of the best, top talent (who are freelancers). Someone who is an expert in usability, color pallets, grid based design, etc etc. After my research, the best of the best are employeed or too busy for new work.

Money is not an issue, but finding serious talent is. You guys have recommendations? Looking for someone who is available to work and not flaky.

I'm always on the hunt for new designers to roll out offer pages and banners. Hit me up if you need work.

Money is the least of the issues we've had. Its the ones who follow through with what they've agreed or claimed to be able to do, in a quick or reasonable time period. Of the few really good ones I know, they are either over talented, overpriced or overworked. For the rest.. its a volume game I guess.

Shiiiiit, you'd think being a designer is the most dangerous job in the world, all I hear are excuses about getting into accidents or they just disappear and claim "family emergency" or "someone is staying over" or "I got into an accident". WTF?!

Whats the deal with 99designs I was looking to post a project, but the only option for web design is without html? So you're paying for a .psd?

I've been told to hit you up about my landing pages so I may be talking to you pretty soon... :)

As a designer I have to admit your right. I have to make up excuses ALL THE TIME because I put something off or went rock climbing instead.

A lot of us went to school to do "high end" design. Once you realize that clients care about conversion and cost to design more than how revolutionary or beautiful it is.

Luckily my brick and mortar has enough open minded return clients we get to do cool projects often.

But yeah. if you are a design and have any organization skill, you end up management REAL quick

Jon, if your looking for someone who isn't flaky, who is always on his computer, and always available by either skype, aim or the phone then I am your guy. Try me out. Absolutely free.. just PM me.

Really depends on what you consider "top of the line" - The very top of the line freelance designers (only a handful) will charge you at MINIMUM $xx,xxx for a site design.

I design and accept web designs at ProPSD | Professional Grade Website Design in 72 hours - I'm a ton cheaper than $xx,xxx, but I do low-ball the shit out of myself cause I'm a bad salesman. ;)

I like your designs, pretty good stuff. One thing I do notice on your designs (from your portfolio) is that the calls to action just don't "pop" and I am left wondering what to do on some of those homepages. The graphics are good though, nice portfolio.

99designs are shockingly good sometimes, i am always stunned at how many great designs dont get selected. all those great looking sites going to waste!
