Traders: Whats your opinion of binary options and bull spreads?

Specifically the investment products from Nadex ( Nadex Trading Products )

Seems like a good way to mitigate risk. Any of you ever messed with them? What are your thoughts?

Binary Options might as well be in the casino niche. I don't know anything about bull spreads.

The guys that run optionmint.com have an office down the road from me. Heard through the grapevine they were looking for investors. I looked into it. Pretty much just straight gambling and it isn't regulated at all.

Essentially BOs are not participating in the marketplace, like the old days bucketshops that were referenced in Reminiscences of a Stock Operator.

Supposedly the CBOE were doing some BO, strikes me as either a desperate or half-interested move.

That said, BO's are fun, like gambling. I have a market minded website and started the "Gerbil Growth Fund" - 12 guys and I put in $50 and I traded a BO account like it was a fund.

Stressful, not worth the time, yet it was easy for me to get from $600 @ $1500.

I stuck with one blue chip, XOM, and followed it realtime along with an oil index and the S&P 500 index - and waited until the window was smallest before making a "trade" (bet), thereby estimating momentum. If I sensed everything was going in the same direction 5 minutes out from the strike "date" (a fixed point in time, like 2pm EST) I'd go for it.

It was half-joke/half-serious and really distracted me from doing any sort of work, like trading stocks in general will do to me. I was very glad when I stopped it.

And as if getting up in your account isn't hard enough, actually getting paid is another ball of wax. Because I doubled as an affiliate of that particular service, I got paid. It was a pain in the ass.

Not recommended. Not even as an affiliate, though I'm sure someone, somewhere is killing it.
