I often listen to music while working. It helps to dampen noise and reduce distractions. And the right type of music stimulates my creativity.

Trailer music, in particular, does that for me.

Two Steps From Hell has produced a lot of material that you've probably heard while watching the trailers for Harry Potter, Star Trek, The Dark Knight, X-Men, and other action-oriented films. Their stuff is also used in a bunch of television shows, such as Game of Thrones and Doctor Who.

Here are two full albums from the "group" (they have others, but these are my favorites):

If you like music without vocals playing in the background while you work, give this stuff a shot. It may do the same for you as it does for me (improved creativity and productivity). :)

I listen to music all the time too, for the same reasons, but what you posted sounds a bit too "massive" to me... it feels very demanding and it actually has the opposite effect on me. Not trying to bash it at all though, I love music (who doesn't).

I listen to house/electro a lot when I work. Uplifting, melodic, a nice beat to get you in the flow, minimal vocals. It can't be too deep or minimal though, that gets boring quickly (to me). Not talking about clubs either here... only "work music".

For example, I love this guy's podcast: http://ssradio.com/category/shows/housetrap/ . About 2 new sets per month, 2 hours each. He posts his newest stuff on Soundcloud too but deletes the old ones - the full archive is here: http://ssradio.com/category/shows/housetrap/podcast/

Give that a try if you're into electronic music at all.

It's funny how the same music has a different effect on different people. I'd say whatever works for you is perfect :) The world would seriously suck if everybody liked the same things.

Once I get my shit in order again I'm going to re-focus on making orchestral type of music.

And yes, I'm going to post this video with my background track in this thread as I do with ever other music thread here on WF... (shit, 100k people have heard it!)

I really like Celldweller and E.S. Posthumus. Although not necessarily "trailer music" a lot of their music is used in movies and TV shows.

I really like Celldweller and E.S. Posthumus.

Coincidentally, I just stumbled on Celldweller a couple of days ago. Very good stuff. :)

Thomas Bergersen, one of the guys behind Two Steps From Hell, came out with this album a few years ago...

It's pretty awesome (if you like trailer music).

My first thought when seeing this thread...

Glad it was posted though, I really like epic film score type tracks. They don't distract me (lyrics do) and they can be pretty inspiring.

This isn't as epic as a film score, but it's still one of my go to albums for good instrumental music that I like when I want to focus and get things done...
