We're getting ready to launch a Kickstarter soon for my new product, and we're actively looking for influencers on major tech sites to build up some major buzz before the launch.
It has already been picked up on a few sites (GSM Arena, Oh Gizmo, RaterMob, HD Gizmos, and others)

But now we'd like to bring out the big guns and try to get media coverage on one or more of these;

TechCrunch
enGadget
Mashable

(or other sites of similar 'stature')

Going the traditional route with their contact us forms or 'send us a tip' leads nowhere, so the way to get a mention is to get your foot in the door through an introduction.

If any of you know, or know anyone who knows, a contact/writer/editor/insider at any of those big sites - and could help get us an introduction for a feature, it would be absolutely fantastic!
(And there might something in it for you as well) ;)

Thank you!

And of course - here are some bewbs for y'all...

Head over to FB. Type in employees of *company*

edit:

You can do it the traditional route of messaging them but I find it's more effective if they find something good on their own. You can write up some clever ad and target the employees directly.

I'd say to try and get coverage on lesser blogs (do a major outreach campaign to smaller tech blogs etc, talking them up and offering them pre-release info) but hold stuff back. Then give one of the big guys an exclusive on it when they find out about you and reach out.

If you can get some coverage on tons of smaller/micro blogs, that'll get you a good way in through the door of the bigger players.

I ran a successful crowdfunding campaign last summer that worked tremendously well. We got pickups on Mashable, Techcrunch ( spent an hour on the phone with them), spoke to NY Times (still waiting on our article), the biggest newspaper in the Netherlands, Forbes x 2, Venturebeat, and a ton of other sites. If I wasnt about to run out to dinner I would detail it for you but send me a PM with the campaign info and I will give you some advice and maybe a few people you can email directly.

If it's for your Staybl cam in your sig, I signed up for more info on your site. Cool looking product. Looking forward to getting one.

Thanks for the tips c0rv3tt3, yeah the ad targeting thing is something I've heard of before but haven't tested. Might have to check that out :)

Don't do it.

FB has been cracking down on Custom Audience Targetting where you don't have explicit permission to market to the individuals targetted. So manually scraping or using any scraping tool for UIDs or emails from the graph search, groups, pages, etc... to target these indivuals using Custom Audiences will get your account eventually banned.

FB has sent a few legal documents to a handful of marketers also, that is in addition to shutting their accounts down.

FB PPC is following the same path as Adwords did back in the day, just at a more accelerated rate.

Dang... I hadn't heard about them doing this. They must have started doing this fairly recently? (If you have any sources I'd love to read more). I know some guys doing well targeting this way. I actually also bought FB Lead Chef for this purpose, lol.

Make this mount to a motorcycle and I'll buy two. Actually a big market there for you, if you could make it work with bikes. Every man and his dog films their rides now, and since a lot of different countires are outlawing helmet mounted cams (tampers with safety standards on almost all helmets - at least here in Australia), people are looking at new ways to mount them and keep them stable.

Just a thought.

Thanks for the input man :) Someone else pretty much said the same to me a while ago so it's something to look into.

Why not do deals with some easier sites first to build buzz and momentum?. The "big" boys would want to talk to you when you've already got some results in the bag. When you have proven that your idea is popular. Just my 2 cents.
