Out with the old and in with the new. My old blog (EurekaDiary) is being replaced with my new blog - BuildAndEarn.com. Pardon the dust - I'm still moving in - but I made a post I think a lot of people will enjoy to celebrate the launch. There will be many more like it:

Local Area Niche Directory: WFReview Tutorial | Build And Earn
In this tutorial I go through all the steps in creating a Local Area Directory for Baltimore Lawyers found at Baltimore Lawyers. The site utilizes the WFReview Plugin and I go through all the steps - from keyword research through monetization.

Chances are 50/50 I'm passing out soon and comments on B&E are moderated but I promise I'll answer all questions/comments here and on the site as soon as I'm able/awake. I hope you guys enjoy it.

Nice job dude!

@Unarmed

Probably a good idea and I would do that if it was an arbitrary site that rated something like... sports teams. But seeing as how I'm rating lawyers I don't want to provide a ton of negative reviews that attracts the "attention" of someone fully capable of suing me. I thought a lot about that...

Its a tough question and I think deserves a case by case look and I think this could have gone either way. I wanted to err on the side of safety and wanted to play this a bit more "by the book" but yeah, point taken.

I can give a couple of people some free scrapes if they have been around for a while and managed to have given here on WF. PM what state, city you're interested in, category, etc...
I'll send the file to you in csv.

I see your point. But too make it look believable as a review site, at least include some 3 and 4-stars or something. Include a terms of use that states all reviews are the opinion of the poster and may be completely inaccurate, always seek other opinions, blah blah. Then include a contact link for lawyers to contact you if they feel they have been "wronged" in their review. This will provide a revenue opportunity for you. ;)

Or make it a premium option for "rebuttle", otherwise they cannot provide visible response to reviews.

... and be sued for extortion? I'd rather go with Unarmed's technique since that will give an under-the-able mode of making money.

That's actually a pretty good idea. But I think I'm going to use my spare time to pump out a bunch more of these local directory type sites and re-evaluate in about a month, after they've had some time to get listed by the SERPs and whatnot. build build build.

what's your SEO strategy? Are you going for 'brands "i.e. famous lawyers names, law firms" or generics. Or, is it so long tail/low comp that you don't have to do tons of linkbuilding....

@riddarhusetgal

For this site it's mainly the keyword domain. Business names and lawyers names as posts, assuming the site is properly SEOed with All In One SEO Pack and whatnot should take care of itself in the long run. So if you're looking up a lawyer online to see if they're shyte or not you might hit my site via Goog.

I don't plan to pay a ton of attention to this site in the near future... I have too much other stuff to do. I just want to create a bunch of sites like this in my spare time - filling in the gaps in my days/nights - and let them sit. Then in a few months I will revisit them, see if any are getting organic traffic, re-evaluate and possibly do some link building, further development, etc...

But right now the idea is to just create quick resources to sit... what do they say a watched pot never boils or something? These sites aren't a huge deal to me at the moment but I want to build them so in a few months, when I have some time, I'll have ready to go sites that I can immediately start building out more and monetizing rather than starting from scratch.
