TV Shows and Why I Dislike Them (and a few I like).

Obviously I should be doing work right now, but, in true wickedfire fashion, I'm going to post rants about the state of current TV.

Shows these days are just crap. I mean, really crappy. Mostly because the storylines are just garbage and have no depth. Without further ado, here's my rant:

1. Shark Tank
I used to really like this show, but, after the latest unholy implementation of the T-mobile and "famous face" plug, it's obvious this show doesn't give two shits about finding great deals to let the sharks fight over. It's just plug and promotion. It's crap. :boid:

2. Revolution
I gave this show a legitimate shot. I really did. I thought, "Ok, so the whole world loses power, maybe they won't make this terrible." Mediocre acting aside, their implementation of the entire basis for the story (world losing power) is just complete crap. "Ok, whole world loses power! Why? We don't know! Alien necklaces make power, but guy who creates it decides to live as a Green Acres farmer instead of trying to do anything with it!" It's just stupid. Not only have they failed to back up their story of the whole world losing power with some half-believable scientific theory to make it more enticing, but they have one "bad guy turned good" who can dodge bullets and take on 20v1 and win without a scratch. It's crap. :boid:

3. Alphas
This one started out pretty interesting. Sort of like x-men with the natural evolution of humans to develop powers. But, their search for the Perish guy and the lackluster presentation of people with powers has made this show turn to shit. Just this long, drawn-out, never ending chase for this stupid immortal guy while they are like "Ho-hum, just use my power against this guys power, yawn. Everyone has powers, so normal." It's turned to crap. :boid:

4. Kitchen Nightmares
I'm a Gordon fan for sure, but these people are just damned retarded. The show looks more and more scripted every time I watch it. The restaurant owners always have to butt heads with Ramsey (wtf, if they didn't want his advice and guidance they wouldn't have called him to begin with). Then, there's someone who's lost his passion for food that Gordon has to give a "rebirth" to who breaks down in tears. Finally, Gordon gives them a successful 1 night re-launch. What they don't show you, is that you can't learn how to run a restaurant in a week and that the only ones that don't crash and burn are the ones who immediately sell for profit after all that publicity. The rest go right back to not knowing wtf they are doing and probably file bankruptcy shortly after. :boid:

5. Scandal
Not a bad show. Really getting sick of the "omg I'm in love with you, my heart hurts" between the President and the Fixer. Just get back to the drama and the conspiracy please, thanks. They need to kick their writers in the ass, however. I think everyone and their brother knew that the contractor and the wife were having an affair in the first 5 minutes of the show (S2 episode 5).

6. Grey's Anatomy
9 seasons? Are you kidding me? :boid:

7. Revenge
Premise was interesting (chick infiltrating the social elite through immense preparation and wit), but the drawn out, new housewives drama filler crap completely ruined this show after a few episodes. Cancel this garbage please. :boid:

8. Arrow
Not bad. Has some potential if they don't screw it up.

9. Fringe
Another show that should have ended after the 2nd season. It's so damned drawn out now that no one knows what the hell is going on in this show. It's stupid. Cancel it. :boid:

10. Beauty and The Beast
The Smallville girl is on this one (she doesn't age! wtf?) Still not sure how I feel about this one, but it's so damned predictable. They really need to beef up the story instead of having this mutant guy just save her ass every episode. It's dumb. :boid:

11. Castle
Moderately amusing.

12. Once Upon a Time
1st season was pretty good. 2nd season isn't too bad, but they're dangerously close to tipping into the realm of being crappy. Overall it's a good show so far. Their clever implementation of storybook characters is pretty appealing.

13. Bones
Horrible. :boid::boid::boid::boid::boid::boid::boid::boid::boid::boid:

14. Last Resort
Awesome show so far. As long as they don't screw up the ending (or draw out the sub hijacking for 10 seasons) this one will be pretty good overall.

15. Chicago Fire
I mean, really? Really!? :throwup:Your stereotypical drama. Beefy Guys and Good looking girls who fight fires and save lives. But, their personal demons and all the screwing in the firehouse make life hard for pretty people. It's crap. :boid::boid::boid:

Anyway, I've succeeded in wasting more of my life in STS. Enjoy bros.

Yah, I didn't see one show in there worth watching.

Game of Thrones, Dexter, Sons of Anarchy, Californication, and the Walking Dead.

Give those a shot. And cancel your basic cable.

Don't really watch cable.

Walking Dead is awesome. Story still good this deep into the series.

Will check out those other ones.

i only watch men who built america (history channel) and suits. i don't watch anything else. i am surprised you guys have too much time to watch a lot of tv series.

Borgias.

Not a single fucking bad frame in this one. Don't judge by the imdb. It is amazing.

Some of us deploy to shit holes of the world called Afghanistan with these little things called netbooks and watch degraded versions of television series from external hard drives in the small spans of our down time.

Please, tell me more about how you ball.

9. Fringe

Fringe is awesome you asshole!

One of the very few, if not only true sci-fi show remaining. Season 5 is proving to be one of the best so far (the observers have taken over).

Sounds like a knock-off of Rescue Me, that show was great. Starred Denis Leary.

HBO usually delivers. A show such as The Wire is legit social commentary while still being very entertaining.

You're definitely watching the wrong shows. TV is so much superior to movies, since they take risks and don't play the 'Hollywood Safe Card'. But the shows on your list are all exceptionally bad (except maybe Last Resort - too early to tell).

Currently Running TV Shows that you HAVE to watch:
  1. Walking Dead (much better than S1 already - that annoying bitch finally died)
  2. Dexter (currente Season is slowly building momentum, but still awesome enough to watch while eating dinner)
  3. Homeland (Love Claire Danes, great storyline, this Season is getting there ..)
  4. Sons Of Anarchy (awesome Season sofar..)

Currently on break (or already off the air), but a must-watch:
  1. Breaking Bad
  2. Game of Thrones
  3. Firefly
  4. The Wire
  5. The Shield
  6. Sherlock (UK)
  7. Friday Night Lights

Comedy:
  1. It's always sunny in Philadelphia (Wildcard, bitches)
  2. Community (always a winner - 10/10)
  3. Parks and Recreations (always an alternative to the slightly superior community)
  4. Arrested Development (S4 coming soon.. gok-go-goh)

Worth a watch:
  1. The Newsroom
  2. Modern Family
  3. Veronica Mars
  4. Suits
  5. The League
  6. Weeds
  7. Mad Men
  8. Justified
  9. Chuck
  10. Californication
  11. Doctor Who
  12. Nip/Tuck

Its Always Sunny is ridiculously good
Dexter is pretty damn good
The Mentalist is good
Walking Dead is fairly good

Nice to hear Arrested Development is returning :)

^ Forgot the Sopranos.

Also, the UK version of Kitchen Nightmares (which no longer runs, but you can easily find on YouTube) is a whole lot different, and I would suspect that people from this forum would like it. It's much more centered around the business, and there's very little pointless drama.
