I've grown tired of warning people about this crap. It particularly irks me when idiot friends from high school/my early 20's post stupid shit on my wall that everyone else can see.

These days, I really only log in to facebook once a day to give my "home page" a quick glance and then its on to my own profile to clean up any retardedness someone may have left on a previous status update or wall posting. I really need to get around to just blocking people from writing anything there.

I've talked to a few landlords, and they do admit that they use FB/Myspace to monitor their tenants, and how well they're taking care of the house.........Heck, I do it too :)

It's not just landlords some companies are running checks on facebook as well after they do an interview with someone which sometimes ends with that person not getting the job.

As long as you make it clear to everyone you encounter that you DGAF then you don't have to be concerned with what you or your old flings post online.

Facebook is creepy as shit when it comes to data mining.

I recommend signing up on facebook under a pen name with false information.

At what point do we - the facebook generation - start making the hiring and firing decisions realize that we've all done stupid shit that will get tagged on facebook and look bad.

I mean... at some point you have to realize that the only candidate that looks good on facebook is the one that took the time to clean it up.... not that they are a better candidate for the job.

I guess my point is....

If i don't get a job because I have some college photos of me at a college party drinking and enjoying myself and taking stupid looking photos.

Meh. Fuck'em. That's why we're here anyways right?
